Our current policies fail to recognize the structural issues preventing Indigenous people from equitable livelihoods. Education, water, housing and policing must be improved by working with the Indigenous to understand their values and how they can coincide with the dominant Western culture. We should not just throw more money into the hands of people who feel like they create policies in the interest of the Indigenous without actually considering these peoples needs from their perspective.”
