This situation need a deeper analysis, For example now even though the government bought one fare system transit student passes are not considered for this which is bad for students relying public transport on everyday basis. Uniform plans should be implemented

 @9KNX3BBfrom Alberta answered…3wks3W

Yes, with an effort to create affordable passenger trains that run across Canada, similar to InterRail in Europe.

 @9KMF9GPfrom Alberta answered…3wks3W

Yes, but only if the province or city has a disparity in terms of the safeness and reliability of the public transport

 @9KM32WHfrom Alberta answered…3wks3W

Yes, and they should have more police officers and systems out in place to help people reach safety quickly enough rather than getting stabbed for no reason.

 @9KHWY2CNew Democratic from Ontario answered…3wks3W

Yes, and drastically expand environmentally friendly transportation to remote areas in canada, at an affordable rate

 @9K8HRYHfrom Alberta answered…1mo1MO

yes and provide BOTH free, public and environmentally friendly solutions - this should not come from tax payer dollars

 @9K3JWDFPeople’sfrom Ontario answered…1mo1MO

Some public buses are missing in Canada they never come to yhe bus stop as shown in the google map so i think you should spend money on buses more.

 @9JV5LCX from New Brunswick answered…2mos2MO

Keep the same funding, just be more efficient or hire people who will work better to build better roads.

 @9JT3V8QLiberalfrom Alberta answered…2mos2MO

They already spend enough money on public transportation and most of the income comes from the government itself in my opinion it should stay as it is.

 @9JRD5WLConservativefrom Ontario answered…2mos2MO

Depending on what they use the money for. If they start using it for environmentally friendly transportation then no. But if it is used to create more highways, busses running on gas and to keep it all clean then yes.

 @9J3WNSPfrom Ontario answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but with hightened accountability and in conjunction with other infrastructure programs for achieving a long-term state, and that has to be defined.

 @9J3DSLYfrom Alberta answered…3mos3MO

Certain cities with lots of sprawl need to be designed differently before public transport can become a viable option and therefore so it can be worth the extra funding

 @9HXJPJSChristian Heritagefrom Ontario answered…3mos3MO

We should build train tracks to open up the Country. Rail transport should take priority over road transportation

 @9HQ5ZCKPeople’sfrom Ontario answered…3mos3MO

I think the opposite. No child should be needing to pay for transportation unless we're old enough to get a G1 at the moment,

 @96VPR23from Alberta answered…1yr1Y

It needs to be improved. It needs an over viewed and compare our entire system to better working ones in Canada and consult their engineers on how to improve our current system.
Calgary could easily convert their trains to driverless and within a couple of years the initial investment to convert would be back in the bank because you're not paying a crew of conductors

 @96JJRBTfrom Ontario answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and we should further invest in other forms of public transportation as well.

 @96GN9N6from Alberta answered…1yr1Y

No need to increase government spending but make transportation cheaper or free.

spend more on making the area walkable and bike-able. less car centric design.

 @95K5YQGfrom British Columbia answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, it's clear that Canada's cities are going to need investments in transit, and we're going to need this infrastructure to be built as our planet is warming, and we need to reduce our overall CO2 emissions from transportation as much as possible. EVs and fuel-efficient cars can only do so much, but they don't work for everyone as cars are often a big expense for many people.

Public transportation should be privatized but the government should regulate and have oversight of the system

 @959RYHYfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, If the spending goes to both Free/fordable public transportation, as well as making them more environmentally friendly.

Yes, but use the money thats going to foreign countries instead of adding more money or taking away from other funded things.

 @93Q782Mfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

No, the current price is ok but all students should be allowed to use public transit for free until the age of 18.

 @93KJD86from British Columbia answered…2yrs2Y

My government should be taking all the taxes they get from the gas and making my driving commute to work more pleasurable.

 @93GM3TGLibertarianfrom Manitoba answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, to the extent it reduces road maintenance and construction costs

 @93CR3BHNew Democraticfrom Quebec answered…2yrs2Y

Provide cheaper public transit that’s environmentally friendly. I want two stances here.

 @939BS89from Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

yes because some people don't have enough money coming in to afford a car especially with how expensive gas is

 @933LMPXfrom Alberta answered…2yrs2Y

 @92YRZFNfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

Yes but the extra money should be going towards fast, efficient assessable and affordable for all

 @92S7ZYJPeople’sfrom Prince Edward Island answered…2yrs2Y

The spending is fine, just increase the accessibility of public transportation

 @92RTRZZfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

 @92MWQCFfrom British Columbia answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only environmentally friendly solutions that do not cause a lot of noise and do not require a high fare, and being able to walk to where you need to go should be promoted instead as much as possible

 @92DKL8VLiberalfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

 @928VBDFfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, however I don't think its a first priority as I think there are better things the government can spend money on. That being said I do think our public transportation systems could use some work so maybe in the future we can focus on updating that.

 @928SH73from Alberta answered…2yrs2Y

Make public transportation free and more accessible to people with disabilities, at least for long distances.
