Regardless of whether you trust the government to define boundaries for hate speech, allowing vitriol and especially provocations of violence based on anything that isn't undeniably detrimental to a unified society is harmful and unnecessary.

Our current hate speech laws, and how lax they are, show no indication that the government works to do anything but protect people from heinous and exclusionary practices. Specific amendments to our charter could be made to be more concise on the allowance of criticism of government while still disallowing discriminatory speech towards general groups of people.
