Abortion should not be shamed or looked down on. If a woman or girl gets raped or isn’t ready to be a mother they should have the choice to do what they wants with their body.

Abortions are no more than medical procedures that women should be able to receive whenever they should want to.

Pregnancy can pose various health risks to women, and the decision to have an abortion should be a matter of personal choice, ultimately resting with the pregnant woman. The fringe cases are an extreme minority yet take up most of the discourse. The reality is that we don't know when conscious life begins (scientifically) and most pro-choicers simply don't want to be held accountable for their actions.

 @9G2C5BCfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

Pro-choicers are actually taking responsibility for their actions, many parents/pregnant individuals are unable to raise and care for a child. People choose to have an abortion because they know they will only make the child suffer if it is born without the resources it needs to live a proper lifestyle.

 @9G48LL3from Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

I think that, your body, your choice. No one should be able to tell you what you can or can’t do to your body. Everyone women should have the right to live their lives to how they feel most suitable. No one should get a say on someone else’s body.

 @9G362CLfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

technically we do know when “life” begins in the womb, but at the same time having an abortion is the better alternative for some people, for example say a very young woman got raped and couldn’t handle a child none the less be able to provide for the child you rather them have the child and let it suffer a miserable life because there “parent” was not able to get an abortion or the right ti there body? there are very many factors that go into this debate.

 @9G29NZQfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

You should be permitted to have an abortion no matter the situation, as long as it is in the time period where the baby is not yet formed.

Abortion should be treated the same as any other medical procedure. you wouldn't criticize somebody for getting their appendix removed, because it doesn't concern you. why are people pro-life when many mothers' lives are endangered by a birth or pregnancy? In my opinion, it's an excuse to control and criticize women.

Similar to the principle that no one is obliged to donate their organs to save another person's life, a pregnant woman should not be compelled to continue a pregnancy if it's not her choice. Furthermore, situations arise where a woman may genuinely desire to have children but finds herself in a precarious financial position, making it challenging to provide for the child's well-being. Abortion should be allowed regardless of purpose because some people can't afford to support and home a child.

 @9FMT2NHfrom British Columbia disagreed…7mos7MO

pro choice is not just about physical safety when it come to the health of the mother. caring for a child takes alot of finacial stability, positvie mental health, access to child care services, a good living enviorment, among other things. so even if the mother and the baby would be perfectly healthy that does not mean that it is the best to have that baby.

 @9GGTB5Kfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

i think they should have a choice either way even if it isnt in the case of any of those, if shes just not ready for a kid she is allowed to get an abortion

You should have a choice no matter what as long as the baby hasnt actually started like fully growing

 @9FPPGB2from Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

This is a human right, women deserve the right to their body and we should make more options to make them feel safer.

 @9GGTHHDPeople’sfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

It is the mothers decision, ultimately it should be their choice especially if it was something like this that happened.

 @9GGNRFWfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

Everyone should be allowed to have an abortion, if people start saying that "Oh, only people who were raped (yada yada yada) can get an abortion" means that others can start claiming that women are like, pretending to be raped just to get an abortion which is an abuse of power and very icky.

 @9GB9JRLfrom Manitoba agreed…6mos6MO

if someone isnt in a good financial situation and cant afford to have the child then once the child is born and older it will affect the child a lot mentally or any other way. or what if a 6 year old gets pregnant? she could die.

 @9GTKJ4Sfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

A human being should be able to choose what they do with their body, and what their body goes through. If a women gets pregnant but is to young to support them, does not have enough money to support them, or just DOES NOT WANT TO HAVE A BABY then they should have the option to not go through with the pregnancy. Just because some people disagree with abortion does not mean that is should be illegal. It should be an option. Everyone should be able to choose how their life goes, for some that does not involve having a child, or giving birth to one. No matter what the circumstance a person should be able to make their own decisions about their body.

 @9FMMXRZfrom Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

I think People should have the right to pick what they want to do with their body. Its their life and its not right for us to have to make them have a baby when they are not ready or underage.

 @9FLJWKNfrom Nova Scotia disagreed…7mos7MO

Women aren't always in the right circumstances to have a child and its their bodies they should be able to choose what happens to them

 @9FKPXG8from Saskatchewan disagreed…7mos7MO

i say forget pro-life. im 100 percent pro-choice, and so should everyone else. no man should have any say about a woman's body.

 @9GWF8MHfrom British Columbia disagreed…6mos6MO

I think we forget mental health in this situation because even if something terrible hasn't led to the reason someone is pregnant there are people suffering with mental health issues that if they are forced to have a child they don't want will compromise the quality of care they give to that child.

 @9FRKYNNfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

If you accidentally get pregnant, you should have the choice to reverse it. Like if one night you want to then realize what you did, then you should be able to change that.

 @9GXV9V3from Ontario disagreed…5mos5MO

Not all dangers to the mother or child are clean cut answers, sometimes it is not completely physical harm that people are avoiding it is mental harm that they can cause to themselves or to the child. Teen pregnancies are increasing and plenty of those teens are not able to care for that child causing mental problems on themselves and to the child if they have them. However, this is not always the case but only the women is able to correctly identify if they are able to create a positive and healthy life for a child.

 @9GRM8JGNew Democratic from Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

Children born out of incest are likely to have issues which would mean more stress on the child and more stress on the mother. If a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, not allowing her the right to choose is essentially forcing her to have a child that will remind her of a very traumatic experience. Health risks are a huge concern in many pregnancies, and in some cases having a baby could be fatal for some women and if you are actually pro-life than you should value the life of someone who has actually lived.

 @9GHHWBXfrom Prince Edward Island disagreed…6mos6MO

You shouldn't shame someone for getting an abortion no matter the circumstances, it's their body. What if they aren't financially ready for a child?

 @9GH43N7Liberalfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

Absolutely agree with the latter point, but we can’t forget that many women who are seeking an abortion are doing so because they are financially and socially disadvantaged. It can be more harmful to bring a baby into a situation where they are not properly cared for, fed, clothed etc.

 @9LQGWWHNew Democraticfrom British Columbia disagreed…3 days3D

If you would allow a child to be aborted in these cases, why does the mothers wishes and desires become anything less than the reasons provided? Even if she is in a happy situation and doesn't want a child she should be allowed to do what she wants with her body as long as she isn't harming anyone.

 @9KX4Q9Hfrom Texas disagreed…1mo1MO

if you have to argue about rape, incest, or danger to a mother or child over the fate of a cluster of cells, you're going to hell, my dude.

 @9KB8TVNLiberalfrom Ontario disagreed…2mos2MO

Ultimately, the decision of what a women should be able to do with their own body should be left up to them. If someone is not ready to have a child, then they should not have to.

 @9JT82G7from Ontario disagreed…3mos3MO

People still make mistakes, maybe they were irresponsible but that doesn’t mean they should still be taken away the right to do something of their choice to their body. The case isn’t always that they were irresponsible, there’s been many cases where these happen by accident which means that having a child wasn’t what they wanted. Even if it wasn’t rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child, its still the mothers body and it should still be here choice if she wants to keep the child or not.

 @9HXH3FWfrom Ontario disagreed…4mos4MO

The women is a victim and she should not be stuck with a child she may not want nor be able to take care of in some situations.

 @9GNFLKKfrom Ontario agreed…6mos6MO

A child can always be a blessing in someone's life, I believe that instead we should be fighting for the government to fund more money towards financial help for single mothers, low income families, and teen pregnancies.
As well as increase the prison sentencing for rape or incest.

 @9HBNNW2from Ontario disagreed…5mos5MO

people should have the choice. Starting a family is difficult thing that not everyone can handle mentally and financially.

 @9H6CZY4from Ontario disagreed…5mos5MO

I agree to a certain extent but i still believe it should be someone’s choice because it’s their life and their body

 @9GPJVB9from British Columbia disagreed…6mos6MO

It is not a woman's burden to support another person, with the risk of great bodily harm to herself, without her consent. Ever. She is free to withdraw that consent at any time.
This position recognizes at least in theory that a woman should have to consent to being pregnant, but it implies that just because a woman becomes pregnant that is somehow "consent."
No! People can have sex just for enjoyment, we live in a free society. The insinuation that having sex automatically means you want to get pregnant is sexist and rooted in a backwards ideology that women only exist to bear children. Women should have total control over their bodies.

 @9FWNBW4from Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

I think of a mother is raped or sexually assaulted then she is able to abort. it’s that plain and simple.

 @9FTHTQFfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

I am Pro-Choice, but only until 5 weeks, after 5 weeks once the fetus develops a heart, i am pro-life. However if it is rape, incest, or a danger to people involved, then i would allow it past that 5 week mark.

 @9FS3CRKfrom Saskatchewan disagreed…7mos7MO

If a woman's pregnancy is dangerous to her and she will die unless the baby is aborted, are you going to let an already living, breathing, loved human die instead of a fetus that nobody has ever met?

 @9FPPWGRfrom Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

although this could be a way to solve what is happeneing in the usa, i beleive that any woman who has a become pregnant should have the choice to keep it or not in any situation.

 @9FNMKKPfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

I think that a woman should still have a right to abortion as if she isn’t in a financial situation to be able to provide the baby with a proper life than it is only endangering the baby.

 @9FMQTKSNew Democraticfrom British Columbia disagreed…7mos7MO

I think that no matter how it happens, it should always be the womans choice. Its her body and other people shouldnt decide what to do with it.

 @9FLB5J6from British Columbia agreed…7mos7MO

You should agree with Pro-life because in a lot of cases besides any of the ones listed above when a woman has unprotected intercourse, they know that there is a possibility of them getting pregnant. And if the woman takes that chance, it is them agreeing that if they get a baby, they get a baby. So in that sense, if a woman gets pregnant and wants to abort that baby, they shouldn't be able to since they already had a consensus that they may become pregnant and has decided to take on that responsibility.

 @9FL85YSLiberalfrom British Columbia disagreed…7mos7MO

"Danger to mother or child" is too hard to define. It should be the woman's choice what happens to her body.

 @9FL5MPFfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

I feel that we should have the choice to do abortion because it is something that happens to our body and we have the right to choose what we do with our bodies.

 @9FJKDG9from Saskatchewan disagreed…7mos7MO

Women should have a right to choose what their body goes through, pregnancy is traumatic even when wanted. Also, there is enough pain/trauma associated with being raped or incest, so why would you want to force a reminder onto the woman of what happened to her? Even if she were to give up the child for adoption, there will still be stretch marks and 9 months of her life reminding her. Regarding danger to the mother/child, why would someone bring a child into a situation where their life is at risk? That is unfair. Project the child. They deserve to be raised in a safe and loving environment, by the choice of their parents. If that isn’t possible, then abortion is completely a valid option

 @9FSWL2Tfrom Ontario agreed…7mos7MO

if it isnt the mothers fault or they simply cant take care of that child at all, i think an abortion can be prescribed to them.
