I'm 50/50 with this one. Learning a new language can be a very difficult task for some. And we should be embracing diversity, but, this, in the long run, does make it easier for immigrants to communicate what they need.

I think you mean English or French. And yes, to a basic proficiency in listening and speaking only, as long as the government funds free language classes.
