The City of Calgary asked the Alberta provincial government for $19M in extra funding to keep low-income monthly transit passes available for purchase. Over 40% of riders uses these passes; if we assume that 70% of the city's population uses transit,, that's nearly 400,000 people who depend on the low income monthly pass to get around the city.
