Only if it is reformed from it's current state. If it cannot be made into a federated entity that better serves parts of Canada other than Toronto, it should be privatized and sold.

Decrease funding and put the extra money towards something like child care and dental care. We don't need to give the CBC so much money.

 @9K58RGLfrom Yukon Territory answered…2mos2MO

No, and decrease funding for highly political issues or poor reporting. Too much bias has become apparent in the CBC.

 @9JQ8T5Jfrom Alberta answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but also enact a US-Style Fairness Doctrine to ensure equal & fair coverage on all news networks.

 @9HR4D2Vfrom Ontario answered…4mos4MO

The CBC should be made independent and if not than the tax payer should have more influence over the institution than the government.

 @9GNXXXTfrom British Columbia answered…6mos6MO

Yes, the CBC is an integral part of our society, and encourages good programming of what's happening in our backyard.

 @9F2XS9Mfrom British Columbia answered…7mos7MO

The government should decrease the funding, because a lot of what we see on the news is either fake, dramatized, or straight up a lie.

Yes, however it ought to be entirely non-partisan and report what the public needs to hear, not what government wants the public to hear.

 @8VKN3MJfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

Depends. Will the CBC continue to be a mouthpiece for the existing government, or return to its independent programming?

 @9HB9MBDfrom Nova Scotia answered…5mos5MO

The government should prioritize funding for other sections such as education, healthcare or social services.

 @9GYSNHDfrom Nova Scotia answered…5mos5MO

Yes, only if it is reformed from its current state. If it cannot be made into a federal entity, then it should be privatized and sold.

 @9FQ2ZJYfrom Yukon Territory answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but only if the standard of journalism is unbiased, nonpartisan, fact based and all opinion pieces are removed.

 @9FJ79K9from Quebec answered…7mos7MO

The CBC is no longer a good news source. Nearly everything on there is boring fluff. Important issues are sidetracked or completely ignored.

 @9F5KMPVfrom Alberta answered…7mos7MO

Increase funding to public broadcasting. Invest in bi partisan public broadcasting so every Canadian has access to quality news. Every area should be required to have a public broadcasting station that works on radio and on TV. Every Canadian should be able to access the news and it should be non political and funded by the government.

NO CBC is so incredibly biased in some topics its after spreading misinformation about the aquaculture industry. If people are going to be informed they should have access to unbiased reporting of events.

Yes, and it should be a consistent amount that isn't politicized (although some politicians make it that way.)

Yes, but only after an audit and ensurance that they will provide balanced journalism on both sides and no opinion news. Also require news anchors to have no party affiliation.

 @93TM7X6from Nova Scotia answered…2yrs2Y

Audit the CBC and ensure they are going to privide fair and balanced news coverage, not opinions, not the anchors' personal politics. Establish Media Fairness laws.

 @92S6KXHfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

Funding of the CBC should be transferred to the provinces to ensure unbiased media coverage.

 @92PQBJWfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

More funding to create Canadian content based on Canadian culture. Canadians are starting to become fanatical Americans that thinks our human rights are based on the American Constitution and not the Magna Carta!

 @92KMXGLfrom Saskatchewan answered…2yrs2Y

Use a tv license fee like the UK model, to keep government and media seperate

 @9285VQ6New Democraticfrom Newfoundland answered…2yrs2Y

No, if the government were to fund a wide-spread news source, the pubic's best interest may be compromised. That is not to say, however, that information should not be free and easily accessible.

 @8ZX3GXZConservativefrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

No, and significantly reform the institution to be politically unbiased and relevant

 @8ZTSR7Dfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

The CBC ties our country together. It should be less tied to the government of the day for budgets and board members.

 @8ZSJL5Bfrom Ontario answered…2yrs2Y

Regardless, defund, audit and prosecute the CBC for lying to the public and telling fake stories and ensure they only report facts and not biased journalism for one side or another and then restore funding only after they hire new journalists that will only report real news, not fake news.
