Less, and there should be no privatization of the healthcare industry

My compelling position on this debate is informed by ACTUAL first-hand experience of living in the U.S. and in Australia. Healthcare insurance is a nightmare to navigate in the U.S. I witnessed friends having to spend hours haggling and pleading with insurance companies for coverage for very much needed knee replacements, post operative physiotherapy etc. And somehow, things still ended up being expensive! These people had better-than-average incomes (an optometrist who owned multiple downtown small buildings, and a home, all inherited, with no mortgages, and a psychotherapist with a speciali…  Read morezed sort of practice and some inheritance wealth), so if you think you'll do well under privatization, you might want to reconsider that stance, given your resources and your tolerance for pain and frustration. Further, certain hospitals only accept certain insurance plans! So if you needed to go to hospital, you had to call aroud to see which one in your area accepts your insurance! Try navigating all of this with a sudden and painful kidney infection (I did, and it was a terrible and invonvenient experience despite my having a relatively good insurance plan from my employer). We aren't often aware how good we have it in comparison, here.

Healthcare providers will only operate where they can make the most money, instead of providing the best care to the most patients possible.

America has a very privatised healthcare system, and you hear a lot of horror stories about people who cannot afford healthcare. Stories of people going tens of thousands into debt, cough drops costing 10 dollars each, and hospitals overcharging patients because they expect insurance companies to fight them on the charges. Letting malicious and predatory practices such as these into Canada will only lead to the poor getting poorer.

To me, its a moral issue. I believe everyone should have the RIGHT to EQUAL standards healthcare. There is no economic argument I have.

The healthcare system is garbage and patients wait months to be seen or to receive results. The privatization of some health care sectors would allow those people to have the option of paying and being able to be seen sooner.

Public healthcare industries are not offering services that people want and a lot of people aren't satisfied

Speaking from personal experience, as well as a hypothetical situation. If we allowed people to pay for faster treatment, then it could lead to those who are unable to afford it being injured for longer, which would lead to more time without working, which then further decreases their ability for income. In short terms, by privatizing healthcare, we are only aiding the wealthy, and not everybody.

Everyone should be able to go to the hospital and recieve treatment if they are hurt or have something wrong, it isn't right to make rich people more important than others when it comes to saving lives.

Privatisation involves selling state-owned assets to the private sector. It is argued the private sector tends to run a business more efficiently because of the profit motive. However, critics argue private firms can exploit their monopoly power and ignore wider social costs.

More private hospitals means less wait times, means doctors and nurses can be paid more and public hospitals can catch a break on overflow

No citizen should be denied healthcare and denying healthcare based on ability to pay is abhorrent and anti-human rights. Systems such as those in the U.S. promote corruption and negative outcomes for patients, and lopsided working conditions for staff.

Having less privatization will ensure everyone will be able to see a doctor or specialist and get the care that is needed. To ensure that this is the case, the public should call on their government to be fully transparent a stop cutting healthcare funding and deliberately working to sabotage the publicly funded healthcare system. Investing money in preventative services, appropriate health institutions, and salaries for healthcare workers will ensure a well functioning healthcare system.

Private health takes the stress off of public system, more incentive for doctors to stay and provide efficient care
