Traffic laws should be investigated across Canada, and abolished. It's a scam and police use this to hand out tickets to citizens to meet their quotas. Most of the so called traffic laws in my opinion, are a violation of our rights and freedoms. Speeding a little over the speed limit should not be a crime or warrant a ticket, tickets should only be implemented when it's excessive speeds like over 25k the speed limit. I think people are responsible for their own health and safety not laws, police or government.

You don't need traffic laws for people to abide by the rules of driving. The same applies for seatbelts. The vast majority of people won't deliberately put themselves in irrational danger if their life in on the line, and the ones who do put themselves in danger are doing it anyways even with laws in place.

People violate traffic laws all the time with zero repercussions. These are unenforceable laws. If it's unenforceable, it shouldn't be the law. The only enforceable traffic law you need is for reckless driving. This also applies to drunk driving. How many people on a dai…  Read more

Well, I currently live in Vietnam and there are suggestions not laws here regarding traffic and everybody respects each other on the roads. i believe this system should be implemented in Canada, because right now its; a big money grab for Police agencies. I've experienced it here so it works.

The status quo. People die everyday from drunk driving. People die everyday from not wearing thier seatbelt. All of this is happening despite there being laws against it. These are people who will do irresponsible things regardless of the laws in place. Take your own responsibility for your safety and security. You don't need the government to tell you to be safe.

People are selfish and stupid and will intentionally drive in an unsafe manner and possibly injure someone if driving rules are not enforced

 @9VJPP2SConservativefrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

How stupid do you really believe that traffic laws are there for no reason! It's to prevent all sorts of problems like car crashes and such things.

While this would be preferable to the current system, this model could be improved upon greatly by privately owned and managed roads with voluntary and negotiable rules. For instance, one could imagine an individual that has an immaculate driving record but for frequent violations for speeding. That person could negotiate terms that would allow them to drive at excessive speed without punishment, but in the event that they cause an accident, they would be personally, financially and criminally responsible. A private owner of a road may choose to voluntarily engage with such a driver because…  Read more

I don't think society could handle this change yet, and it is best not to create such a drastic change which results in the safety of others being jeopardized.

This is a weird questions. Rules are for civility. Over reach is for control and no rules is chaos. Just make them reasonable, just and fair

 @B9NR74Mfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

Make more human-centered infrastructure focused on creating walkable, transit-oriented, and sustainable communities, rather than sprawling landscapes designed for automobiles.

 @B4SKP64from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, and laws should become more strict on traffic laws being disobeyed. Particularly for newly Canadian licensed individuals

 @9MKYHZ7from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

No, people inherently break the rules of driving safely and control must be maintained to prevent chaos on the roads

 @B5WJ3KYNew Democratic from Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

Definitely not! I say implement a device in the vehicle that records the driver's speed and behaviour at traffic lights and if there's any violation, heavy fines and possible criminal charges.

Almost everytime I go out to run a few errands, bad drivers nearly hits me and looks at me like I'm stupid, so yeah put a device in the vehicle that records the speed and behaviour of the driver in traffic because nobody knows how to actually drive anymore and also drivers have gotten too aggressive and laziness with a God complex and narcissism.

 @B4P8SR8Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Trafic fines collected should be used directly to the roads maintaince. In that municipality. And only to road maintenance

NO. Too many humans need rules because they are incapable of making them for themselves.

I am in transportation, the 401 is the most dangerous highway in north america, the driving is getting worse every year and the police are not doing their job.
