The VP nominee has spoken often about the fertility struggles the couple dealt with. (Gwen this week clarified that the couple used intrauterine insemination, or IUI, rather than in vitro fertilization, or IVF.)

Fertility treatments are very popular among voters. In an April survey of some 8,700 US adults, 70% said access to in vitro fertilization was a “good thing,” according to Pew Research Center.
