The United States and Indonesia have reached a historic trade agreement that will eliminate tariffs on over 99% of American goods entering Indonesia and significantly reduce non-tariff barriers.
In return, the US will impose a 19% tariff on Indonesian exports, down from a previously threatened 32%. The deal opens at least $50 billion in new market access for US commodities, including agricultural products, and removes Indonesian export restrictions on critical minerals vital to US industries. Indonesia has also committed to major purchases of US goods, such as Boeing jets and agricultural products.
The agreement is being hailed as a major win for American businesses and is expected to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
