Rome Braces for Historic Influx as Half a Million Youth Gather for Global Catholic Jubilee

Rome is preparing to welcome over half a million young people from 146 countries for the Jubilee of Youth, the largest event of the 2025 Holy Year.

The weeklong celebration, running from July 28 to August 3, will feature religious ceremonies, cultural events, and opportunities for young Catholics to pass through the Holy Doors of the Papal Basilicas. The event aims to foster hope, fraternity, and peace among youth in a world marked by conflict. Pilgrims from across the globe—including large groups from Korea, Egypt, the U.S., and Africa—will participate, with many unable to travel able to join via livestream.

The Vatican and the city of Rome are making extensive preparations to accommodate the massive crowds and ensure a memorable, spiritually enriching experience.
