Should Canada raise taxes on the rich?

Australia currently has a progressive tax system whereby high income earners pay a higher percentage of tax than low income tax. A more progressive income tax system has been proposed as a tool towards reducing wealth inequality.

there shouldnt be a tax on your paycheck. we pay tax on everything we purchase so by taxing the paycheck then taxing what we pay after we get our check we pay more in taxes then we receive .

Lower income tax on the middle and lower class raise income tax on people who make more than a million and raise income tax on billion and million dollar corporations, abolish all tax loopholes for the rich and corporations.

Under the poverty line, should have no taxes. Same tax rate for all other incomes should be same percent, and lowered from current percent. and remove all existing tax loopholes for large corporations.

Begin to increase taxation on large multinational corporations, and decrease it depending on their country of location and their proportionate investment into the Canadian economy.

War crime tourists pay $3,000 to see Ukraine’s horror

War Tours, pays a wage to its tour guides – who are refugees themselves – and regularly donates funds to the war effort. But some of his competitors appear to be raking in the cash: one week-long “war tour” package reportedly offered to tourists comes with a £3,000 price tag. Clients are from the US, Britain or “small European countries”, he says, and interest in tours has risen this summer. “I think they deserve to see what’s happening here because their governments support Ukraine, and they pay for that with their taxes,” he says, adding “people have a right to know how their money is spent.” It would seem that the Ukrainian government is also keen to attract visitors. In March, the country announced a campaign to attract tourists, saying it had the infrastructure and hotels to welcome foreign travellers, albeit when the war was over. “Any money that people will spend in Ukraine will help the economy to recover,” said tourism boss Mariana Oleskiv. More than 70,000 people visited the disaster-ravaged area in 2021, with numbers peaking at almost 125,000 in 2019, three years before the war broke out.“People are interested in seeing Bucha because it’s evidence of Russian aggression in their own eyes, rather than just through the media,” he explains. But “they also wanted to see destroyed Russian vehicles, and the different kinds of drones used by both sides, as well as the famous exhibitions in Kyiv”.

Arlington Cemetery staffer ‘pushed aside’ by Trump aides

The Army on Thursday defended a staff member at Arlington National Cemetery who found herself in a brief confrontation with two men working for the Trump campaign, saying in a statement that she “acted with professionalism” during the encounter and that her reputation has been “unfairly attacked” by the former president’s representatives.The woman, whom Army officials have requested remain unidentified because of concerns for her safety, sought to restrict photography by the Trump campaign in accordance with federal regulations barring partisan activity at the cemetery, the final resting place of more than 400,000 U.S. troops, veterans and family members. Former president Donald Trump was there to mark the third anniversary of a suicide bombing during the evacuation of Afghanistan that killed 13 U.S. troops, and the families of two of those service members had invited him to accompany them to their loved one’s graves.But cemetery staff had laid out guidelines in advance of the visit that made clear there was to be no official photography during a graveside visit in Section 60, a 14-acre plot where many veterans of recent wars are buried. After the employee sought to reinforce those guidelines, she was “abruptly pushed aside” by the people in Trump’s entourage, officials said in the statement.The confrontation prompted the woman to file a report with law enforcement, but officials said she later decided not to press charges. “Therefore,” the statement says, “the Army considers this matter closed.”The identities of the two campaign employees alleged to be involved have not been disclosed.
