In September 2019 the government introduced a plan where prospective home buyers can finance 5-10% of their mortgage via a shared equity program administered by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Households who make $120K or less and put down 5% will qualify for the program which will cost an estimated $1.25 billion.

Yes, but the amount subsidized be based off the house prices within the province.

Subsidize up to a certain percent on a house based off persons income and value of house, as well as prevent the number of residential properties that can be purchased by a single person or corporation (for traditional homes). With regards to condo's and apartments a person or corporation can own multiple but a limit must be put on how many are allowed to be used for short term rent applications/programs like AirBNB. Abandoned&condemned properties should be purchased by the provincial or federal government and turned into low income housing to help combat homelessness.

120k is a lot and very stable annually amount. For one person 120k is a great amount, this is situational as if they're a single parent or have disabilities.

government should subsidize home buyers who make under 5k a year.
I support government subsidies but at a lower threshhold. 120K seems high.

No, however the government should increase awareness and support to the homeless population.
@9958DJ52yrs2Y
No, it should be less and be done by the amount that a family or people living under one roof make.
@9958DDP2yrs2Y
