The United States is introducing a new $250 'visa integrity fee' for most foreign nationals applying for nonimmigrant visas, including tourists, business travelers, students, and temporary workers.
This fee, part of recent legislation known as the 'One Big Beautiful Bill,' will be mandatory and cannot be waived, affecting travelers from countries such as Canada, Mexico, India, Brazil, China, and many others. The fee takes effect for fiscal year 2025 and is in addition to existing visa application costs, making travel to the U.S. significantly more expensive for millions. The move is expected to generate billions in revenue but has sparked concerns it will deter tourism and international business.
Additional increases in immigration-related fees, including for asylum and work permits, are also being implemented.
