India postpones major Africa and wildlife summits as Ebola spreads

On Thursday, India and the African Union postponed the 4th India-Africa Forum Summit scheduled for next week in New Delhi.

The delay follows the World Health Organization declaring a public health emergency as Ebola spreads through the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. This landmark event was set to be the first meeting in 11 years to discuss critical trade, defense, and maritime ties between the two regions. India also deferred its inaugural International Big Cat Alliance summit as health officials ramp up screening at international airports.

New dates for both high-level gatherings will be announced once the health situation in Central Africa stabilizes.
