A woman should not be forced to go through pregnancy, risk their own life to give birth to a child they do not want or are not able to afford having. They should not have to give birth to a child they were impregnated with by someone they dont want to have a child with. Its their body, its their choice.

 @9G3RDGQfrom Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

If they didn’t want it then why did they have intercourse with someone they don’t want to have a child with, and if you don’t want it just just give it up for adoption but don’t kill it

 @9GRM8JGNew Democratic from Ontario commented…6mos6MO

Having intercourse with someone is not just about reproducing. Also, do you understand how stressful and exhausting pregnancy actually is? Some women just don't want to be pregnant and that is completely ok and they should have the right to terminate a pregnancy if they have no desire to be pregnant.

 @9G3RZDZfrom Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

well its cruel to the child,it could be the cure to cancer and you say"oh its not alive yet so it doesnt matter" yes it does that baby is a living human and you have no right to take its life.

 @9GDBYJJ from Ontario agreed…6mos6MO

Women should simply have the choice to control thier own bodies. More so in the case of rape victims or similar. This has generally always been the case and been shown to lower female death rates from illegal types of abortion that used to prevail.

 @9GDJ8XL from British Columbia agreed…6mos6MO

I do not agree. Abortion is not about body choice, it is choosing not to bring an unwanted baby to the world.

 @T3rritorialRonfrom Alberta agreed…6mos6MO

Overpopulated countries where resources are already scarce. In such cases, bringing an unwanted child into the world could potentially lead to more suffering, for both the child and the family involved.

 @BipartisanTigerfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

These societal issues that need to be addressed through comprehensive policies such as improving access to education and contraception, and promoting sustainable development. South Korea was once a country struggling with overpopulation, but successfully managed to handle it not by encouraging abortion, but through a combination of family planning education, economic development, and social reforms.

 @WholesomeLibertyBellChristian Heritagefrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

A key point of contention is whether the fetus is considered a separate life form with its own rights. For instance, in cases where the fetus is viable outside the womb, some argue that it has a right to life. As for the argument about illegal abortions and female death rates, it's worth noting that improved medical technology and access to contraceptives have also contributed to reducing these rates, not just the legalization of abortion.

 @9GRM8JGNew Democratic from Ontario agreed…6mos6MO

I shouldn't have to provide data to try and convince people to let women choose what they want to do with their bodies. The reality is if you don't like the idea of an abortion, don't get one, but don't take that choice away from others. That is not fair.

 @9GWQFTSfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

It's also not fair to the unborn child abortion should only be an option in rape and life and death situations there are choices other than abortion.

 @9GVHWQNNew Democraticfrom Quebec agreed…6mos6MO

I agree. The other alternative to not have a baby is to put him up for adoption or foster care, and both systems are awful. I do not believe that it's normal to have to wait for years to adopt a child when there is so many kids with no parents. Having an abortion is already a very tough decision to make, I believe that it is very unnecessary to add more stress to women by taking this right away.

 @9GTV738from Ontario agreed…6mos6MO

I agree with this view. I support bodily autonomy fully with respect to abortion, vaccines and MAID. People should always be free to decide what happens to their body.

 @9GSTL5WLiberalfrom Ontario agreed…6mos6MO

I agree with this comment about abortion. It should always be the woman's choice on what to do with their bodies. Sexual assault and rape, especially if it leaves the woman pregnant, should not become their responsibility. There are too many different cases to take the choice away from every woman.

 @9G9WTDM from New Brunswick agreed…6mos6MO

if the mother is unable to support nore give a child the structure needed to guide the child to success they should have the right to abort.

 @9GB2QCRConservativefrom Alberta disagreed…6mos6MO

No. I am pretty black and white with this topic. If a woman gets pregnant and cannot afford to support her child then why would you even bother getting pregnant in the first place? And if the woman didn't decide or plan to get pregnant and cannot afford to support the child there are options to give that child a life i.e. adoption. Even though adoption is not ideal this gives the child a chance to have a life.

 @9GB9K37from Alberta disagreed…6mos6MO

No that is still the murder of a child the mother should find other recourses to help care for the child and give it a chance instead of murder

 @9GCT8FVfrom Ontario disagreed…6mos6MO

Every life matter but if you're not ready to guide the child, instead of killing them try to give baby to adoption or for an orphanage.

 @9GBD47XConservativefrom Alberta disagreed…6mos6MO

Every child should have the right to grow up unless the child was a cause of rape or incest. I believe that parents do not have the right to abort because every child deserves a chance at life.

 @9F84WWSfrom Alberta agreed…8mos8MO

People can get pregnant not under their own terms (rape,etc) or at a time they are not physically able to raise a child (teenage years, poverty, etc) so they would just be putting the child in a bad place if the parent wasn’t allowed to choose to abort because the parent might not be able to support a good life for the child or could struggle caring for the child as they are a constant reminder of a traumatic situation. In the end, it’s their body and them that has to experience pregnancy and everything that comes with it so it should be their choice

 @9F82BXZfrom Alberta agreed…8mos8MO

pro choice because a women has every right to choose what she does with her body. young girls who aren't ready for child birth and not ready to raise a child are not ready for a kid should have the right to choose what she does with it.

 @9F8F8HYfrom British Columbia agreed…8mos8MO

Birthing and raising a child without maturity and readiness is like killing the child alive. So parents better have child when they feel ready in any circumstances.

 @9F7VL4Kfrom Ontario agreed…8mos8MO

Abortion happens regardless of if it’s legal or not. Legalizing abortion just ensures that it’s done safely.

 @9F8S4M8from Alberta agreed…8mos8MO

somepeople don't want to have kids but get tricked into having them, some people cannot finachlly suport a kid.

 @9GNLTWBGreenfrom Alberta agreed…6mos6MO

Its the womans body, she carries the life. Its her choice to keep or abort it. The circumstances surrounding the conception aren't my concern, neither is the choice and free will of another human being, I only have and excercise the agency of self.

 @9G4TW6J from Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

If aborting a pregnancy even early on is murder, at what point does the egg become "human?" At the point of fertilization? In addition to this, having a child is a life-changing event. What if the pregnancy is non-consensual or unplanned? The mother may also just change her mind or she may need to get an abortion for healthcare reasons because a lot can happen while pregnant.

 @9FDCCNNfrom Ontario agreed…7mos7MO

when your in a situation where the pregnatcy is unwanted, you need to have the own choice for your own body.

 @9GBD2J6from Alberta agreed…6mos6MO

it will keep us all safe, less people on the streets, less babies being abandoned and helping with putting a stop to overpopulation

 @9G8BH64from Nova Scotia disagreed…6mos6MO

Abortion should not be used as a way to have repeated unprotected sex without birth control. Abortion should only be allowed if there is danger to the mother or child, the mother is a victim of rape or incest, or if they are not old enough to marry.

 @9FDGX7Jfrom British Columbia agreed…7mos7MO

Having a child changes your life completely. If the baby is already developed quite a bit then abortion should not be allowed cause that's wrong but if you're early in pregnancy it is completely your own choice because it is your life that will be changed.

 @9GFRJZVfrom Alberta agreed…6mos6MO

Sexual assault has continued to rise in Canada; it was 18% higher in 2020 and at its highest since 1996. There were 34,242 assaults in 2021, how many of those resulted in an unwanted or unprepared pregnancy? https://sexualassaultsupport.ca/statistics-sexual-violence-in-canada/
https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/221019/dq221019c-eng.htm

There is also the argument of bringing a child into a home surrounded by domestic violence. The statistics show a huge increase in sexual assault within domestic violent relationships. Preventing someone from seeking an abortion when they are faced with this situation and the trauma that could come from it, is not for the government to decide.

 @9G3KGHJfrom Ontario agreed…7mos7MO

Having the choice can stop the amount of heavily disabled children who struggle to live from being born, it can also stop a lot of child neglect from someone who does not want or can not care for a child.

 @9G7PW8Cfrom Alberta disagreed…6mos6MO

You can only be given access to abortion if you were raped, have health issues or serious problems. It cant be a 'mistake'.

 @9GNGJ3JLiberalfrom Ontario agreed…6mos6MO

If a child were raped, and became pregnant, and could die during birth, it that fair for this girls unfair life to have to go through that

1. Reproductive Rights: The pro-choice position emphasizes the importance of a woman's right to decide about her body. This right is enshrined in many countries' laws and constitutions, and limiting access to abortion infringes upon these fundamental rights.

2. Healthcare and Safety: Access to safe and legal abortion services is crucial for women's health. Before the legalization of abortion, many women turned to unsafe and illegal methods, leading to significant health risks. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 25 million unsafe abortions occur annua…  Read more

If the child was living outside of your body, it is still yours, and you are not allowed to harm it. It's still a human being. It could grow up to change the world.

i dont think people should be able to just get rid of a life because they decided to just mess around with no reprobation's. i also think the father should have a say as its his child too.

 @9FRX6LWfrom Ontario agreed…7mos7MO

i feel like women should have the right over there own bodies, because sometimes people arent in the right space to have a child and its better to not have a child then have them in a bad environment. if a women was sexually assaulted they wouldnt want to have there rapists baby and they should have the right not to have the child.

 @9FTWLZJfrom Alberta disagreed…7mos7MO

I believe aborting an un-born baby is no different than killing an already born baby. Everyone has a soul, and a chance at life. Even if it doesn't fit the reality of the parents to have a kid, there are options of putting kids up for adoption.

 @9F9NGVLfrom Alberta agreed…7mos7MO

I think that being pro-choice is important because if someone can't decide to have a child or not than some of their rights it feels are being taken away. Also they could be bringing the child into a bad home life.

 @9F9BZ5Kagreed…7mos7MO

The overwhelming scientific consensus is that access to abortions saves the lives of women, because abortions will happen regardless of their legality. Therefore, access to abortion saves lives rather than taking lives.

. As well, if the child cannot be cared for, it will end up in fostering. If the concerns are about childrens lives, start by helping the millions of kids in the foster system. As well, men who have a significant stance just want more control over women and their bodies. Women should not be forced to have children.

 @9FWQXNGfrom Ontario disagreed…7mos7MO

Is murder aloud? The child in the womb is life from the moment of conception. If left to its own, it will turn into a child. That child doesn’t have a voice, and is fearfully and wonderfully made, therefore has every right to life. You can say people should have a choice, but do you actually know what abortion means, and how can a decision be made for that child when we are all broken people.

 @9H42F42from British Columbia agreed…5mos5MO

In an anti-abortion world, women have less of a right to decide who gets to use their organs to live than dead bodies. And I don't agree with that.

 @9F9LYRMfrom Ontario agreed…7mos7MO

children under 18 are raped and become pregnant and they should not be forced to birth a child when they are not ready in any way. Children can die from giving birth or develop health problems which could all be solved by just an abortion, and if abortions are illegal, some women will try to do it at home by themselves and end up bleeding to death without proper care. People who are pro-life tend to use the argument "its still a living thing" when I'm pretty sure there's a time limit for women to get abortions before its too late and the fetus actually starts to develop.…  Read more
