Should disposable products (such as plastic cups, plates, and cutlery) that contain less than 50% of biodegradable material be banned?

In 2016, France became the first country to ban the sale of plastic disposable products that contain less than 50% of biodegradable material and in 2017, India passed a law banning all plastic disposable plastic products.

I agree to ban all disposable products that are not made of at least 75% of biodegradable material but also fix our recycling programs and GET HONEST about what Canada REALLY IS RECYCLING!! Programs for residential sorting at the curbside, THEN fines to loose individuals who don't sort properly

No, increase consumer incentive to recycle! But keep in mind that it's a generational cycle. It's contradictory. If you eliminate plastic products and increase paper products, the "tree huggers" complain. Benefits of disposable plastic products outweigh the destruction of our forests. It's so inconvenient to bring our own biodegradable bags, which cannot be used for anything else. Plastic garbage bags are used to line my garbage cans. I now have to buy plastic bags so I'm not really saving the environment am I? I'm now paying for plastic bags for my garbage cans and I'm paying for biodegradable bags for my purchases. It's ridiculous! It's causing more garbage not less.

No. Bring back plastic bags. Reusable ones are more wasteful and I'm not using less plastic bags, I'm just buying them differently

No, let them remain but also create disposable products that are under 50%. Keep both products for efficiency but our government must be strict on the proper waste responsibility.

For certain things, tim hortons is still using plastic cups when they have paper straws, paper straws suck.

Make products with 50% biodegradable materials or more the main product but encourage recycling for plastic and waste products

Biodegradable is misleading. Compostable and recyclable materials should be encouraged with tax incentives, but phasing out of single use plastic should be done through federal regulation

They responded to Trump’s victory with alarm and vowed to put up a fight, setting the stage for four more years of contentious court battles with his administration.Some are already preparing to push current leadership at the Department of Homeland Security to take steps to stymie the incoming Trump team, particularly on immigrant detention and the use of AI in enforcement.“We should expect to see the devastation of immigrant communities all over the country. We should expect to see family separation,” said Kica Matos, the president of the National Immigration Law Center. “It is entirely possible that he will try to use the military to carry out deportations, so that means that Americans all over the country will see the military engaging in enforcement against civilian populations, which is horrifying.”Trump, after winning a historic victory on a platform of turbo-charged immigration enforcement, has said he will conduct mass deportations at a scale never before seen. Immigrant advocates have warned this would be expensive and inhumane, separating families and wrecking communities.
