Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August 2022, which allocated millions to combating climate change and other energy provisions while additionally establishing a $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles. To qualify for the subsidy 40% of the critical minerals used in electric-vehicle batteries must be sourced in the U.S. EU and South Korean officials argues that the subsidies discriminated against their automotive, renewable-energy, battery and energy-intensive industries. Proponents argue that the tax credits will help combat climate change by encouraging consumers to purchase EVs and stop driving gas powered automobiles. Opponents argue that the tax credits will only hurt domestic battery and EV producers.

They should provide rebates for the modifications and equipment required for the changes to your home. (Like the charger to be installed)

electric vehicles are not made for Canadian climate and are polluting just as much plus they cost so much more to buy and to maintain especially batteries...
@B2BM93X4wks4W
No, electric vehicles are not better for the environment. The refining of elements to create batteries require a lot of coal to be burnt in China so it makes no sense currently.

The answer is to stop subsidising and bailing out failing ICE vehicle companies and the oil/petrol industries (including plastics)
@9XNN7QZ3mos3MO
Yes, but through repayable loans that take into account the operational savings you get with electric vehicles compared to those with= internal combustion engines

The government should massively subsidize EV manufacturers directly, in exchange for a minority interest in that company
@9W8J6364mos4MO
No, but the government should be putting that money into infrastructure that makes an electric car a more enticing purchase for consumers
@9V9M4HC4mos4MO
No, I do not think electric vehicles are a solution to our climate crisis. Instead the government should invest and encourage walkable cities and accessible public transit
