There are some incredibly smart kids that know more than the average adult about worldly topics and politics. Perhaps, when younger aged, they can write a short and simple test to show their competence in order to vote.

Yes to 16 but with a test for 16 and 17 year olds with one retake to see thier understanding of politics if fail first time take one retake if fail retake cant vote till if still under 18 years old in next election take test again with one retake if 18 next election can vote without taking retake if pass first test or retake can vote in this election and future election without retakeing test regardless if still under 18 years old or if 18 years old
